Police arrested a former employee of the Brian Center Nursing Home in Waynesville after a resident in February reported being raped by a CNA.
Waynesville Police on March 31 arrested Louis Gomez, 58, who worked as a certified nurse assistant. He has been charged with second-degree rape, said detective Chris Chandler with the Waynesville Police Department.
He was removed from the Brian Center once police learned of the allegation, Chandler said.
Police are continuing to investigate whether there might have been other victims, Chandler said.
Since the allegations have been made, the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services conducted an investigation.
